Q: I notice variations in the glass set I received? Is that normal?

A: Our recycled bottles may differ from one another because they come from different manufacturers or from different production runs of a manufacturer.  Also in bottles there may be variations in the dimensions and glass distribution (wall & base thickness).  As we go through the process of crafting an extraordinary tumbler or goblet, these differences contribute to the uniqueness of each individual glass, and provide added character. We enjoy celebrating the beauty in such variations.

Q: Why do some glasses get retired?

We rely on bottles from recycling centers and restaurants and are subject to what is available in the market. Sometimes we cannot get enough of certain bottles to continue a product. As a result, with great sadness, we must discontinue that particular offering.

Q: What is your return policy?

A: When you purchase our products we have a 100% return policy.  If you do not like it or the adhesive fails return it and we will return your money (please have your receipt.).  If there are any questions please feel free to contact us.

Q: When will my order ship?

A: In-stock products are typically sent out within 4 - 5 business days.  We attempt to maintain a reasonable stock of our most popular items at all times. However there may be times where our stocks run low and we need to make additional items to fulfill orders.  In the rare instances when this happens shipping of your order may take up to two weeks.  If we expect such a delay we will notify our of your order status

Q: Where do all the bottles come from?

A: Our bottles come from the recycling stream and are sorted for use in glassware or mulch. Sometimes we can get 'resort' glass which are those bottles that have failed a glass manufactures quality control and are destined to be crushed.

Q: Where do you make your glassware?

A: All the products we sell are made in the California Central Valley in Modesto.  The large number of wineries in the area give us good access to specialty bottles.

Q: What’s the difference between “terrazzo” and “landscape” glass?

A:  Not much.  Terrazzo glass and landscape glass are the same glass.  Glass mulch can be called “terrazzo” simply because it’s commonly used in terrazzo floors, terrazzo concrete countertops, terrazzo tiles, and the like.  Many people prefer to use our fire pit glass in terrazzo because of its more uniform size.

Q:  What type of glass should I use for my fire pit or fireplace?

A:  You can use any color or finish that seems appropriate for your fire pit setting.  We do NOT recommend mirror chips for fire pits of any kind.

Q:  How much Glass Mulch do I need?

A:  In most applications you need 7 lbs of glass per square foot for a one inch depth of glass.  That is, if you want to cover a 10 square foot area with one inch of glass, you’ll need 70 lbs. To cover the same space at a 2 inch depth you will need to double the amount (140 lbs).  We generally recommend a one inch depth for groundcover using colored glass.  For crystal clear or diamond chip glass you may need a thicker layer to cover dark colored garden fabric.  Alternatively you may need to put in a white or light grey liner with this glass.

For fire glass, a standard fire place is roughly 2 square feet and would require 50 lbs of glass.

For aquariums, we recommend 1.5 lbs per gallon.

For decorative aggregate in concrete countertops or decorative concrete flatwork, we recommend 1.25 lbs per square foot (This gives you a 70-80% coverage).

Q:  How do you package and ship the glass?

A:  We mostly package in 25-30 lb boxes with an inner bag.  Alternatively, we package in 5 lb, boxes.  The pricing varies by packaging.  We ship via UPS and common carrier.  For smaller orders and orders up to 200 lbs in size, we ship via USPS.  Please call or email us for orders over 250 lbs in all cases to discuss shipping arrangements.

Q:  What is the price of the glass?

A:  See the product pages for the individual items by clicking on the tab on the menu bar.  Most regularly available, items will show a price.  There are a few hard to acquire items or custom items where you may need to call for a price.    Price is a function of color and quantity.   For glass mulch orders over 250 lbs, we offer volume discounts.  Please call us or email us for discounts.  Please call or email us for orders over 250 lbs in all cases to discuss both discounts and shipping arrangements.

Q:  Is your glass recycled?

A:  Absolutely!!  All of our products are made from 100% recycled materials.  We receive recycled post-consumer glass bottles from various local material recycling facilities (MRFs).  We also have contacts with local glass produces and resellers to recycle their waste  products.  In all cases, the glass products we produce use waste glass feedstock that can unquestionably be labeled 100% recycled.  Depending on the application of our recycled glass products in a given project, an architect or client may claim LEED credits or “green points” for using our glass.

Q:  Can I get some samples of glass mulch in advance of an order?

A:  Absolutely.   We sell sample packs containing 2 colors or styles of glass mulch.  They are available on our web site or you can call or Email us with the details of the colors and styles you would like to see and we will send a sample out to you.

Q:  Do you ship internationally?
